About Us

One might say that Rotor Ron was born by accident. I certainly didn’t set out to open a store for radio controlled race car parts. It all started when I acquired a dyno for the sole purpose of learning more about motors and sharing that knowledge with a couple of friends.

I have been around real race cars all of my life so I was always intrigued by engine dynos. I couldn’t wait to see what it did for my RC motors. Once I figured out how to operate it and understand the data, our cars got faster and smoother.

Other racers soon noticed how my cars performed and wanted their motors tuned. I’m a salesman by trade, so I immediately saw the opportunity to recoup some money I paid for the equipment. I started off tuning motors.

Before I knew it, the list of people that wanted their motors dyno tuned grew. Initially, I was only tuning motors locally and everyone liked my work. In a world where negativity is king, it’s nice to see so many happy people believing in me and my products.

Refurbishing used motors with the dyno

Before long it was crystal clear that I could take a used motor and make it better. I have heard all the horror stories of racers buying motors that have “never been overheated” only to find they paid for a paperweight.

So I went into the business of selling dyno-tuned, used motors. I started out selling my motors on RC Tech. One day the owner told me I  was selling too many and that I needed to stop or pay to be on their site. They actually suspended me after giving me a warning – great customer service right?

OK fine, I am not going to pay their prices for a banner ad, so I started listing them on eBay and I could not keep up with demand. Racers started sending me their motors to tune. Many wanted to buy new motors from me. I could see it was time to take this to a new level.

RotorRon.com was born

In January of 2017, Rotor Ron and RotorRon.com were born. I started with a Facebook business page and it took off from there. Once enough racers started having success with my tuning and products, the response was overwhelming.

My motors are winning races throughout the US and many other countries.Rotor Ron tuned motors have won backyard races, club races, points races, big trophy races and even a national championship (F1 25.5) as well as the Texas Supernationals Drag Race with Tim Smith!

I now have 471 5-star reviews on Facebook. I’m still shocked at how fast all this has grown in just a few years!

Our product mix has expanded

Rotorron.com now sells a wide variety of radio controlled racing parts. I have a great selection of wheels, tires, ESC, batteries, speedos, chargers, and other accessories. I even bought S.H.A.G Oil for improved performance on the track.

Our catalog is carefully selected and curated. I stock only the best products at fair prices.  As a long-time racer, I know what your car needs and what can deliver top results in a race.

I also want to have fun. After all, RC racing is a sport and hobby that brings us joy! Over the years I have added more exclusive items including our hand-painted, one-of-a-kind custom car bodies. Why should your car look ordinary?

And yes, I still service and tune motors on request.

One thing is for sure I could not do this without the racer’s support and I am forever grateful for that. Thank you so much!
